Hi, I’m Monica. Welcome to my blog about my Sisterlocks journey!
A little about me: I’m a daughter, sister, aunt and friend. I’m Christian, Southern, and perimenopausal (me navigating perimenopause could be a blog in and of itself!). I’m an avid reader of mysteries and love action adventure movies. Divorced with no kids and appalled by the dating scene, I’m learning to appreciate being single and to question the romantic fairy tales we grew up with (there’s another blog idea). I’ve had quite a career so far (film, grocery store management, law, consulting/training/coaching, writing, and currently nonprofit management). But what this blog is mostly about is my coily, curly African-American hair, and me continuing my journey to appreciate its beauty and uniqueness.
I decided to create this blog to document my Sisterlocks journey. I named it “monicalocks”as a play on Goldilocks, because that’s how I feel about my hair sometimes. I’m hoping my Sisterlocks experience will help me learn my hair is “just right.”
Please subscribe if you’d like to come along with me on this adventure!
