Not familiar with Sisterlocks? I believe in getting and giving information straight from the source; so here’s a definition from the Sisterlocks site: “Sisterlocks is a natural hair management system that creates tiny style-able locks. It allows women with highly textured hair to take advantage of a wide range of today’s hairstyles without having to alter the natural texture of their hair or add any products or heat.”
So think of it as tiny locks that you can style any way you want. And it’s your natural hair. Pretty cool, huh?
If you want to see all of the different styles, just Google “Sisterlocks” and click on “Images.” You’ll see younger women, older women, teenage girls, and little girls wearing their Sisterlocks “freestyle” (just hanging straight) or curled or braided or in elaborate designs. Maybe it’s my imagination, but they seem poised and proud.
Then again, maybe it’s not my imagination. From the Sisterlocks About Us page: “Sisterlocks invites women who are interested in self-empowerment and cultural self expression to embrace a natural hair care system that is self-affirming and truly gorgeous.”
Count me in!
